Strategic Initiatives: Neurosciences

Neuroscience is the basic science, diagnosis, treatment and understanding of the brain and central nervous system. Neurological sciences will be one of the early areas impacted by the understanding of genomics and has massive quality of life impacts and addresses the impact on brain functions including increasing its longevity for functioning including learning and relearning.

Replete with a graying population in the Midwest U.S., as well as important research programs already underway, the Greater Kansas City region provides an unique environment to leverage cardiovascular, drug discovery, digital imaging and information tools.

Kansas City has several emerging research strengths in neuroscience that if properly linked to capabilities in animal science and medical imaging could open up routes into large global markets.
