Life Sciences Research

Top people, state-of-the-art facilities and genuine collaboration are enabling our human, animal and plant researchers to make significant progress in deciphering the genetic basis of disease.

Building the research base is a key pillar underpinning the regional life sciences economic development initiative. New discoveries and innovations lead to intellectual property, which can be further developed into products and therapies that ultimately impact the quality of life of citizens in the region.

The regional capacity for innovation is significant, with over 2000 scientists and greater than $550 M in annual research expenditures by our stakeholder institutions. Add to these statistics the scientists and investments in private sector life sciences companies and the region clearly qualifies as a significant contender as a nationally and globally recongnized life sciences center of excellence.
